
On Earth Day, 2009 (April 22), Jeff Williams became the first broker/agent in Fredericksburg, TX to earn the coveted Green Designation awarded by the National Association of Realtors®. Courses for this program were created in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of industry experts to ensure that designees gain comprehensive knowledge of green homes and buildings and issues of sustainability in real estate. This designation helps consumers who care about energy efficiency and sustainability identify professionals who can help them realize their green real estate and lifestyle goals.
EcoBroker is an education and certification program for real estate professionals who care about the environment and want to promote energy-efficient and "green" features in homes and buildings. The EcoBroker® logo is the symbol of environmentally responsible and sustainable practices in the real estate industry. Certified EcoBrokers® meet buyer and seller demand for real estate professionals with a real understanding of the issues that drive current market decisions. On October 8, 2008 Jeff Williams became the first broker/agent in Fredericksburg, TX to earn the EcoBroker certification.
Some Texas REALTORS® have gone the extra mile and have undergone a 12-hour certification program that arms them with special knowledge about statewide affordable housing resources and products. A Texas Affordable Housing Specialist is dedicated to increasing the rate of homeownership and retention. Jeff Williams completed this certification program on September 25, 2008 and is actively engaged in the creation of affordable housing in Fredericksburg, TX via his lobbying efforts with the Fredericksburg Texas City Council to remove barriers to affordability (e.g. by creating new zoning districts allowing smaller lots and increase density, etc.) and through the founding of the Fredericksburg Land Trust.
